The importance of Tazkiyah lies in purifying the heart and soul, which are the foundation of sincere worship and true connection with Allah. As Allah mentions in the Qur'an:
“He has certainly succeeded who purifies it (the soul).”
[Surah Ash-Shams: 91:9]
Tazkiyah nurtures sincerity, humility, and reliance on Allah, softening the heart to receive guidance and act upon it. The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Truly, in the body there is a morsel of flesh which, if it is sound, the whole body is sound, and if it is corrupt, the whole body is corrupt. Truly, it is the heart.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 52, Sahih Muslim 1599)
This inner purification is essential for attaining spiritual success and closeness to Allah, preparing the soul for acts of worship and guiding a person toward good character. True tazkiyah enables the believer to fulfill their potential as a servant of Allah by embodying righteousness, sincerity, and humility.
